Monitoring student use

Good classroom management is good classroom management and is not changed by adding social networking tools such as Facebook.

Poor classroom management will be amplified with the use of social networking.

Computer screens should be viewable for any online activity. The room should be arranged where the teacher can easily move from area to area to view what students are doing.

Elementary: Be sure you can see the screens from the large group table or arrange centers where you can keep your eye on things.

An internet assignment is an interactive activity between students and teacher.

An internet assignment is not an independent practice activity. (Do not give the assignment and go grade papers!)

Watch the time limit on an internet assignment - don't give "extra" time (Idle hands...)
